Thu, 12 Jan 2012 15:00:02 +0100 (AP) - A health worker administers pulse polio drops to an infant at Government Children's Hospital in Jammu, India, Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012. India will celebrate a full year since its last reported case of polio on Friday, a major victory in a global eradication effort that appeared to be stalled just a few years ago. If no previously undisclosed cases of the crippling disease are discovered across the country, India will no longer be considered to be polio endemic, leaving only Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria on that list. Sun, 11 Dec 2011 05:40:02 +0100 (Reuters) - Ministers gather in a huddle where agreement was reached to extend the Kyoto Protocol during a plenary session at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP17) in Durban December 11, 2011. U.N. climate change talks agreed a pact on Sunday that for the first time would force all the biggest polluters to take action to slow the pace of global changing. The deal follows years of failed attempts to impose legally-binding, international cuts on emerging giants, such as China and India. The developed world had already accepted formal targets under a first phase of the Kyoto Protocol, which runs out at the end of next year, although the United States had never ratified its commitment.
